The Marketing Data Scientist I applies advanced analytics to support member retention, acquisition, and experience initiatives. Collaborating with senior technical and business leaders, this role identifies business problems, extracts and explores relevant data, uncovers actionable insights, and builds predictive models to forecast future outcomes.
What you will do here:
Apply advanced analytics techniques (e.g., SQL, statistics) to extract actionable insights from financial and member-related datasets that support acquisition, retention, and member experience initiatives.
Build and maintain predictive models:
Supervised models to forecast member behavior or future events—used to reduce churn, personalize recommendations, and more.
Unsupervised models to identify distinct customer segments for targeted marketing strategies.
Communicate findings effectively by creating reports, dashboards, and presentations tailored to stakeholder needs.
Collaborate with IT to resolve data-related issues and clarify member data questions.
Stay current with industry trends and best practices in data science and marketing analytics and share relevant insights with the analytics team.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
What you will need:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mathematics, statistics, computer science, data analytics, data science or related field preferred.
Equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Master's degree in engineering, mathematics, statistics, computer science, data analytics, data science, or related field preferred.
1 year of data science experience; a relevant master’s degree may be accepted in lieu of the required experience required.
1+ years of experience working within a financial service institution or a credit union preferred.
Proficient in Python or R to perform statistical analysis and identify patterns in data required.
Proficient in Python or R to build and validate predictive models required.
Experience in using Power BI or a similar software to create dynamic data visualizations required.
Experience using SQL to retrieve data from a relational database required.
Ability to effectively communicate findings from complex analyses to non-technical audiences required.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work on both individual and collaborative projects required.
Experience with Google Analytics (GA) and Google Tag Manager (GTM) or the willingness to learn these tools required.
Experience with Optimizely to track digital data at the individual level or the willingness to learn this tool required.
