Caterpillar Inc. seeks Data Scientist at its facility located at 14009 N Old Galena Road, Chillicothe, IL 61523.
Perform analytical tasks and initiatives on huge amount of data to support data-driven business decisions and development. Direct the data gathering, data mining, and data processing processes in huge volume; create appropriate data models. Explore, promote, and implement semantic data capabilities through Natural Language Processing, text analysis and machine learning techniques. Lead to define requirements and scope of data analyses. Present and report possible business insights to management using data visualization technologies. Conduct research on data model optimization and algorithms to improve effectiveness and accuracy on data analyses. Responsible for developing, validating, applying, and refining statistical models. Responsible for application of related digital technologies in processing both the inputs and outputs from models. Provide examples of everyday analytical tasks including determining should-cost curves to identify cost outliers targeted by material cost reduction teams by creating visualizations of the output in a digital technology such as Microsoft Power BI. Identify and develop simulation/optimization capabilities to model financial improvements made from deploying advanced product quality planning (APQP). Aid high-profile enterprise-wide projects such as defect-free or other product development improvement initiatives. Responsible for supporting the full BI lifecycle from requirements analysis through design and development, and through release and support/maintenance phases for various tools on multiple dashboards. Develop a dashboard to pro-actively detect any high-risk parts and Restricted Access Consultants from various tools and dashboards. Lastly, provide continued development and maintenance of bug fixes for both existing and new Power Bl Reports including dashboards for APQP Coverage and PPAP.
REQS: This position requires a Master’s, degree, or foreign equivalent, in Industrial and Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field and two and a Half (2.5) years of experience as a Data Analyst, Quality Analyst, or related occupation in the data science industry. Additionally, the applicant must have employment experience with: (1) Data management systems for product development data frames; (2) R and Python for machine learning and artificial intelligence applications, specifically as applied to product development process optimization; (3) Data visualization and query tools used to connect to data warehouses; (4) Data management systems such as ability to use, support and access facilities for searching, extracting, and formatting data for further use in product development process analysis; (5) Obtaining and analyzing query access path information and query results such as defining, creating, and testing queries by using associated command language (SQL, R, Python); (6) Statistical analysis (Minitab), algorithm development, and refinement used to describe business results in measurable dimensions; (7) Principles, technologies, and algorithms of machine learning, artificial intelligence, and deep learning; (8) Supporting, maintaining, and expanding Product Development Data Lake structure and relationships; and (9) Agile Dashboard Release, Review, and Validation Processes.
