We are looking to hire a senior technical leader with a strong record in leading applied research teams. You will lead and grow an organization accountable for building machine learning technologies to enable breakthrough experiences that make a real difference in the lives of hundreds of millions of users.
Key Qualifications
10+ years of combined management and professional experience in machine learning, research, and software engineering, and a proven record in running an applied research organization with product impacts
Strong organizational skills and experience working with large cross-functional and diverse teams
Excellent problem solving, critical thinking, and communication skills
Experience in scientific computing, high-performance computing, applied machine learning, or deep learning
Strong in computer science fundamentals, software engineering principles and development methodologies
Experience with incubation, development and deployment of machine learning technologies into products
Ability to take ambiguous ideas from inception to deployment
Experience with setting and executing innovation strategies at both technical and organizational levels to drive research directions and business objectives.
Description
The Data and Machine Learning Innovation team focuses on innovative technologies, methodologies, and research to enable amazing user experiences and advance the frontier of machine learning at Apple. The team works broadly with Machine Learning teams across the company to advance capabilities. This role is highly multi-functional, and you will collaborate very closely with various highly skilled machine learning and software development teams to develop groundbreaking research and solutions for Apple products. As a Senior Technical Leader, you will: - Lead teams of machine learning and software engineers to research, build and deliver AI technologies that enable AI-driven customer-facing products and features. - Work cross-functionally on a diverse set of exciting problems, collaborate with world- class software and machine learning engineers and researchers to impact the future of Apple products. - Lead research portfolio, help identify long-term ambitious research goals as well as intermediate milestones, prioritize research that can be applied to Apple’s product development. - Build and grow inclusive, high-functioning, diverse teams.
Education & Experience
MS/PhD in Computer Science or equivalent

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $282,000.00 and $450,500.00, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
