The Bloom Lab in the Basic Sciences Division at Fred Hutch is seeking an experienced Data Scientist to work on multiple projects applying computational tools to analyze and visualize viral deep mutational scanning data. The Data Scientist will work with other lab members to create a variety of pipelines, as well as perform analyses of viral evolution from sequence data. Responsibilities: The Data Scientist works closely with the PI and a variety of lab members doing mixed experimental and computational work. The Data Scientist will need to be knowledgeable about both viral evolution and computational tools, and will be expected to lead their own projects, collaborate with others, present their results, and write scientific papers. Qualifications: BA/BS required in biology, statistics, data science or a related field. PhD in biology or related preferred 5 years of related experience. A track record of computer programming as documented by contributions on repositories on GitHub. Experience analyzing viral deep sequencing data Experience working with deep mutational scanning Experience creating interactive visualizations of deep mutational scanning data A statement describing your commitment and contributions toward greater diversity, equity, inclusion, and antiracism in your career or that will be made through your work at Fred Hutch is requested of all finalists. The annual base salary range for this position is from $93,100.80 to $139,630.40, and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
