As a Data Center IT Operations Manager, you will perform a key role in delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's online services including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform. Be at the forefront of the action in CO+I as part of our global datacenter operations. In the Information Technology (IT) Operations Manager role, you will work with the Datacenter Operations Manager and Datacenter Project Managers to drive and implement consistent programs across your datacenter. With your team, you will enable the build out, onboarding and operationalization of new datacenter capacity, and actively participate in the incident and outage process to ensure proper root cause analysis and appropriate follow-up with affected site contacts. This role calls for a balance of leadership, influence skills, supportive individual contributions, and expertise in enterprise-level operations. Responsibilities As a successful Data Center IT Operations Manager, your performance objectives include: Empowering a culture of safety, security, and compliance in all aspect of datacenter activities Leading and managing a team of high-performing individual contributors and their ongoing talent development Managing and overseeing datacenter site services, logistics, and deployment Collaborating and coordinating with multiple internal business groups to ensure the successful delivery of service levels Analyzing production operations and initiate corrective actions to ensure operational stability Initiate and establish quality standards for the Datacenter teams and manage those initiatives through to completion Learn, live, and coach the One Microsoft culture and values. Lead through change by bringing clarity, generating energy, and delivering success Qualifications Required Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent AND 2+ years experience of mission-critical service management (e.g., providing IT services, manufacturing, warehouse, retail, military, or managing physical operations in an IT and/or critical environment infrastructure). Background Check Requirements: Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. Citizenship Verification: This position requires verification of US Citizenship to meet federal government security requirements. Additional or Preferred Qualifications 5+ years experience in Critical Environment infrastructures (e.g., UPS, Generator, AHU) AND 5+ years experience working in physical IT infrastructures (e.g., Servers, SANs, Networking, Capacity, DC Rack/Enclosures, structured cabling) AND Experience managing budget $500k+. Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Math, Telecommunications. 3+ years experience in leading a diverse, technical team. Applicable certifications: ASICS/Inventory Control, CompTIA, Microsoft, Network Certifications, CCNA Certifications, ITIL v3 Foundation, Microsoft Operations Framework (MOF) Certifications, Leadership Development Certifications, PMP, CDCP. At least three years’ experience managing physical operations in an Upscale IT Environment. At least two years’ experience leading and motivating a diverse, technical workforce Willingness to work flexible hours, non-business hours, or other scenarios required by rhythm of the business Enterprise-level Experience in managing large-scale and complex projects/programs Working knowledge of audit and compliance requirements in a large global enterprise Strong problem-solving skills, analytical capabilities, data analysis, and attention to detail Strong verbal and written communication and organization skills Must be able to multi-task and project manage many tasks simultaneously. Data Center Operations Management M4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $99,000 - $195,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $129,500 - $216,000 per year. Microsoft has different base pay ranges for different work locations within the United States, which allows us to pay employees competitively and consistently in different geographic markets (see below). The range above reflects the potential base pay across the U.S. for this role (except as noted below); the applicable base pay range will depend on what ultimately is determined to be the candidate’s primary work location. Individual base pay depends on various factors, in addition to primary work location, such as complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. Base pay ranges are reviewed and typically updated each year. Offers are made within the base pay range applicable at the time. At Microsoft certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including merit increases, annual bonus and stock. These awards are allocated based on individual performance. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee’s role.
