Facebook’s energy program drives thousands of megawatts of renewable energy onto electric grids around the world and creates the regulatory and policy efforts required to support them. Facebook’s Energy Team is seeking an intellectually curious and self-motivated energy professional to help us expand our energy work to an even larger scale while maintaining a reliable, affordable, and sustainable energy supply for our global footprint. The Energy Analyst will support the continued development and execution of Facebook’s global energy strategy centered on system wide decarbonization that supports Facebook’s operational objectives and consistent with the company’s overall strategic priorities. The ideal candidate will understand regulated and deregulated market constructs, market design and ratemaking, the energy policy environment, possess strong analytical and critical thinking skills, have familiarity with energy storage and transmission projects, and, importantly, an individual drive to learn more about these topics. Support the creation and execution of Facebook’s long-term energy strategy through research and analysis of market structures and policies which meet our decarbonization and reliability goals Work with Facebook’s Energy Managers to deploy transmission, storage, and other advanced energy technologies by bolstering existing market design options through new analysis or to create new market design options where needed Become familiar with transmission, storage, and other advanced energy technologies as well as the market design components that support them in markets across the US and conduct or direct research and analysis on those markets Evaluate opportunities for Facebook to engage in energy storage and/or transmission projects in regulated or deregulated markets Communicate findings and analysis to internal and external stakeholders at an appropriate level of detail and complexity for a diverse set of audiences Build and maintain relationships with internal partners including sustainability, policy, legal, and others Support or lead various energy projects, as needed Ability to travel domestically, as needed (up to 25%) Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, environmental, or energy related discipline 8+ years experience working in energy markets with an energy intensive customer, a consulting firm, a market design firm, an electric utility, a technology provider, or similar Experience in energy storage and transmission technologies as well as their typical applications Experience with energy policies and other market design elements including state mandates for renewable energy, electric rate design, and wholesale market design Experience analyzing market design elements quantitatively including modeling key risks and sensitivities Experience supporting negotiations Excel, PowerPoint and/or Keynote experience Facebook is proud to be an Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action employer.
